GyroinkPrivacy Policy

This describes what Gyroink actually collects today, not what it might collect one day. If that changes, this page changes with it.
What we collect
When you create an account
You sign in with Apple or Google. We receive a unique identifier from them, and your name and email address if you allow it. We never receive your password. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we only ever see Apple's relay address.
What you write and save
Stories, chapters, comments, your profile, and cover images you upload. Drafts stay private to you until you publish them.
What you read
Which chapters you have finished, what is in your library, and who you follow — so your progress and shelves survive a reinstall and follow you to a new device. Reading history is never sold and never shared with other users.
Reports you make
The reason, your note, and what you reported. Reports are not shown to the person reported, and we do not tell them who reported them.
What we do not collect
No third-party analytics. No advertising identifiers — advertising is currently switched off entirely. No location. No contacts. No microphone or camera access.
Automated review of content
When a story or chapter is published, its text is sent to an AI model to check its rating and screen for content our rules prohibit. This applies to published writing only — private drafts are never sent anywhere. The model can flag content or take it out of circulation pending review, but a person makes every decision that removes work or suspends an account, and you can appeal to a human.
Who we share with
We do not sell personal data. We share only with the services needed to run Gyroink:
- Apple and Google — sign-in only
- Ollama — published story text, for the moderation check described above
- Netcup (Germany) — hosting our servers and database
We also disclose information where the law requires it, and we report child sexual abuse material to the relevant authorities.
Where data is held
On servers in Germany. If you use Gyroink from outside the EU, your data is transferred there.
How long we keep it
Your account and work stay until you delete them. Delete your account and we remove it and your stories within 30 days. Moderation records — reports and decisions — are kept longer so repeat problems can be spotted, and because we may need them if a decision is challenged.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@gyroink.com from your account address. If you are in the EU or UK you may also complain to your data protection authority.
Children
Gyroink is not for under-13s, and content rated 18+ requires an age confirmation. If we learn we hold an account belonging to a child under 13, we delete it.
