Terms & Content Policy
Last updated 17 August 2026.
By using Gyroink you agree to these terms. The short version: your work stays yours, fiction is allowed to be uncomfortable, and we act on content that harms real people.
Your account
You must be 13 or older to use Gyroink, and 18 or older to read or publish content rated Explicit. One person, one account. You are responsible for what you publish.
Your work stays yours
You keep copyright in everything you write. You grant us only the licence needed to host it, show it to readers, and generate audio narration of it inside the app. Delete your work and that licence ends.
Content policy
We moderate what content does to real people, not what it depicts. Fiction is allowed to be uncomfortable. It is not allowed to be a weapon.
Never allowed
These lead to removal and usually to a permanent ban. Where the law requires it, we report to the authorities.
- Sexual content involving a minor. Any sexual or eroticised depiction of a character presented as under 18 — in prose, art or covers. This applies regardless of a source work's canon, a character's stated species or lifespan, or an "aged-up" label. If a character reads as a child, the content goes.
- Hate. Content that dehumanises or advocates harm against people because of race, ethnicity, caste, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or serious illness.
- Real people, sexualised without consent, including AI-generated likenesses.
- Targeted harassment — threats, doxxing, coordinated pile-ons.
- Promoting self-harm — instructions or encouragement of suicide, self-injury or disordered eating as goals to pursue.
- Illegal content and plagiarism.
Allowed, but rated
Permitted, and it must carry the correct rating and tags. Mis-rating is itself a violation, because the rating is what lets a reader consent to what they are about to read.
- Sexual content between adults
- Graphic violence, abuse, addiction and non-consent depicted narratively — as events in a story, not as instruction
- Suicide, self-harm and mental illness as subject matter
General — all readers · Teen — mild violence, romance, some profanity · Mature — implied sex, strong violence, heavy themes · Explicit — graphic sex or violence, 18+ only and kept out of default discovery.
Explicitly allowed
Written down so nobody has to guess:
- LGBTQ+ stories, characters and relationships, treated exactly as any other romance at the same rating. A queer love story is never "objectionable" for being queer.
- Depicting bigotry is not endorsing it. A villain who is a racist, a story set in an era of oppression, a protagonist who overcomes prejudice — all fine. The rule above is about content that asks the reader to adopt contempt for a group.
- Dark and uncomfortable themes. Grief, war, cruelty, despair. Tag it, rate it, publish it.
- Fanfiction and transformative work.
How we enforce this
Anyone can report content from inside the app, with or without an account. An automated classifier screens published work and can flag it or hide it pending review, but a person makes every decision that removes work or suspends an account. You will be told what happened and why, and you may appeal once to a human.
You can block any writer; their work then stops appearing anywhere in the app for you.
Ending your account
You may delete your account at any time — email hello@gyroink.com. We may suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly break the rules above.
The boring but necessary part
Gyroink is provided as-is. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, and we are not liable for what users publish, to the extent the law allows. Stories on Gyroink are fiction and are not advice. These terms are governed by the laws of India.
